Haven't played in a long time but I'm just very curious now that I sorta came back to the game
generalFeng
A long while back, after the BETA was released, Feng basically disappeared. Turns out he went to work on some other games including a little drifting game. During this time he also conceived a child which he shared an image of his child on Facebook around last holiday season. He announced in his blog that the game would receive a final update sometime in the future when the servers get shut down. This goes against what he said before a long while back when he mentioned he would keep paying the server fees as long as there was a community to play on them. So as of now, his current decision on any of this is unknown as he no longer really engages with the
community. So things regarding Feng and AoTTG is still kinda up in the air due to a ton of these variables going on with him and the game itself. And that leads into the next topic.
The Community
The community of AoTTG is still very much alive, but by no means as popular as it was in 2013~2015. Majority of players, as far as I am aware of, gather into the RRC Discord server as it is the
main hubOverall
The game is still good as it hasn't been updated since 2015 (We don't consider the BETA in 2016) but time is definitely taking its toll. Feng announced the official close of his servers whenever that comes down to it and the community is mostly the same people you will run into again and again after a while. Tournaments, competitions, and other type of events are usually really lackluster due to the little amount of participation as more and more people are deciding to drop the game as it's just not the same anymore from a social sense which was a major aspect for a lot of people in the early days. If you ask me, it's still worth putting time into, but don't expect to feel the same feeling from the golden ages. People are still waiting for the final update a/o the servers disappearing, but until then, we just play and get better for the sake of playing a game most of us can't leave for nostalgia purposes and the time we already put into it.
