Mobile Games

Mobile games, one of those topics that often triggers thoughts of ad abuse and micro transactions, but often time than not, a few games on mobile platforms aren’t so bad and quite enjoyable. With major AAA industries taking shots at the mobile department, such as Nintendo, mobile gaming appears to be entering the steps to become more popular than before thanks to new technology in the latest phones which can support more from gaming. Whether that be good or bad, that’s hard to say.

As someone who enjoys all types of gaming, good and bad, I’m interested in hearing about your opinion(s) regarding the topic as well as some suggestions perhaps.

I don’t have many games on my phone as I have a pretty awful phone with poor battery life, but there are 2 worth mentioning. Both of which most people probably heard of:

Definitely one of the games I’ve been pretty addicted to for the past two months. It’s basically one of those “Idle-Advancing” games. You start off with a hero, advance through hundreds of stages gathering more heroes, join a guild, kill bosses, and PvP. General online stuff like that, but what makes it the most appealing to me is the design of it all. It’s deep, the characters look nice, and honestly I enjoy seeing my numbers get bigger. Plus, I like the community.

A very old game that still has ways to being fun if you like Strategy Defense games. With the Manga-esk design, it’s pretty unique in terms of appearance. With the daily, weekly, and monthly events that have been going on for years, it’s always got something new going on. But it’s also a gachapon type game so there is a bit of gambling if you want to fill that collection of cats. So that’s a bummer you’ll have to get around. With events though, tickets aren’t hard to get.

What are your thoughts on the topic?

I don't play "mobile" games. I'm a firm believer that smartphones should be for things like google or email; but in your pocket. I like to spend my 4k mAh on 3 days of not-thinking-when-i-need-to-charge-my-damn-phone, rather than a few hours of fun.

The only game I *do* have on my phone though is Pixel Kingdom, because I am really fond of pixel games and have played it since it came out when I was still a wee 'lil kid (2013)

I can relate with the fondness of pixel games. Idle Apocalypse for example is a game I have, but started to fall out of it when I picked up A Hat In Time and My Time at Portia again. I do believe 85% if mobile games are just gross to touch, but a few I’ve come across over the years have been pretty enjoyable for the most part. I remember playing Rolling Sky and spent many hours on that game. Simple dumb fun memorizing paths while listening to some really nice music. Pinout belongs in that area as well.

I do plan to ditch this old iPhone 5 and get something better soon to be able to experiment more with “newer” games, but still deciding what to get. Probably a Pixel 2 since I’ve been wanting to try a Google phone since I’ve tries Apple, Samsung, and Windows. Not gonna get Pixel 3 as I don’t want a phone that breaks when the wind touches it.
